About Us:

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SCHOOL

Our school was started in January 2012. The school started with a learner roll of 595 and 16 educators including the principal.

Villa Liza, the Background

The community of Villa Liza includes different racial groups, Asians, Coloureds and Black people who are in the majority. The socio-economic status is very poor and the majority of parents are not working. That is for all races. This situation is evidenced by the kind of challenges that we are experiencing at school. The government nutrition programme, which is also available at school, makes things easier for our learners by providing them with food daily thereby encouraging them to come to school daily. The education level of most parents is very low making it difficult for them to find work. Most of our learners receive social grants from the government and do not stay with their biological parents but foster parents. Our school is therefore classified as a non fee school, meaning no learner is expected to pay school fees. This makes it extremely difficult to run the school according.

The present learner number is 1733 with 49 educators, 3 admin clerk and 8 cleaners. The school cannot give anything to the volunteers because of its financial status. While the school started with grades 8 to 10, now we have grades 11 and 12.
